July 13, 2009 Catalina Island Charter

A Grumman Goose operated by Catalina Airlines crashed in 1979, near Avalon Harbor with four people on board. One person died. Two other survivors were found by a Sheriff’s deputy at a bar in Avalon having a few drinks after the crash. This was the second crash for the airlines in the same year. Catalina Airlines ceased operations soon afterward.

The depth is about 220ft and currents can sweep the area. The depth, along with boat traffic, makes this an experienced deep diver trip only.
