Si Tech Hose Recall: April 17, 2009

Si Tech, a leading manufacturer of drysuit hoses, has initiated a recall for all Si Tech drysuit hoses sold between June 2006 and March 2009. This recall affects drysuit manufacturers worldwide and includes the Dive Rite EX954 Drysuit Inflation Hose, which is sold with our 905 and 905EXP Drysuits and individually.

The hose has a Flow Restriction Insert in the end of the metal 3/8-inch UNF fitting that screws into the low pressure port of the regulator (not the end shown in the attached picture). This restrictor can become dislodged and enter the regulator causing a serious malfunction. This insert may be black or blue in color and must be removed.

Si Tech has a list of batch codes, (PDF, 82KB), to help identify the affected hoses. If the insert is missing and the hose being evaluated does fall within the batch codes of June 2006 to March 2009, the first stage regulator should be evaluated to see if the insert has lodged inside the regulator. DO NOT dive with a hose subject to this recall until the insert has been removed.

Si Tech is asking that a Recall Form, (PDF, 82KB), be filled out so they may track the progress of this situation.

In the future, Dive Rite will be substituting a standard BC inflation hose in place of the Si Tech drysuit hose.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please see the Si Tech Website.
